General & Pricing

How much does a yacht refit cost in Phuket?

+

Refit costs range from $15,000 for basic maintenance to $500,000+ for comprehensive renovation. Antifouling on a 40ft vessel starts from $2,500. Full Awlgrip respray on a 50ft motoryacht costs $35,000-50,000. Phuket rates sit 30-50% below European and Australian shipyards for comparable quality work.

Why is Phuket cheaper than Europe for yacht refit?

+

Lower labour costs, competitive material sourcing and year-round working conditions (no winter shutdowns) keep Phuket pricing well below Mediterranean and Northern European yards. Skilled Thai technicians, trained in marine trades for decades, deliver quality on par with European standards at a fraction of the cost.

How long does a full refit take?

+

Basic work (antifouling, polish, minor repairs) takes 2-4 weeks. A mid-range refit (hull respray, teak, some mechanical) runs 6-12 weeks. Comprehensive renovation including interior, mechanical and electrical typically requires 3-6 months. We provide exact timelines after the initial assessment.

Do you provide written estimates before work begins?

+

Every project starts with a detailed, itemised estimate listing materials, labour hours and timeline for each task. You approve every line item before work begins. Change orders during the project require your written approval with cost and timeline impact documented.

Materials & Quality

What paint systems do you use?

+

We work with Awlgrip (premium polyurethane topcoat), Jotun (complete marine coating systems) and International Paint (antifouling and epoxy). All applications follow manufacturer specifications by certified applicators. We never substitute materials without your approval.

What type of teak do you use for deck replacement?

+

We use certified Burma teak, the industry standard for marine decking due to its natural oil content and durability. Plantation teak is available as a budget alternative. All teak is kiln-dried and graded for marine use. Pricing starts from €1,300 per square metre installed.

What warranty do you provide?

+

Structural repairs carry a 24-month warranty. Paint and coating systems are backed by manufacturer warranties (Awlgrip up to 24 months). Osmosis treatment carries a 36-month warranty against recurrence. Mechanical work is warrantied for 12 months on parts and labour. All terms documented in writing.

Process & Communication

Can I monitor my refit remotely?

+

Every client receives weekly photo reports via WhatsApp, LINE or Telegram. Your project manager is available for video calls. We maintain a timestamped photo gallery documenting every stage. Remote owners make up the majority of our clients.

What languages do you support?

+

Full service in English, Thai and Russian. Project documentation, estimates, progress reports and warranty certificates available in all three languages. We communicate via your preferred messenger: WhatsApp, LINE, Telegram or email.

What is your response time?

+

Messenger enquiries: 1-2 hours during working hours. Email: within 4 hours. Detailed estimates: within 48 hours. Emergency response: available 24/7 for vessels under our management.

Logistics & Legal

Which marinas do you operate from?

+

We operate from four Phuket marinas: Royal Phuket Marina (primary workshop), Yacht Haven Marina (superyacht base, 60m+ capacity), Ao Po Grand Marina (sheltered east coast, long-term storage) and Boat Lagoon (chandlery and workshops, central Phuket).

Do I need to be present for the refit?

+

No. Most clients manage their projects remotely. We recommend being present for the initial survey and final inspection, but handle everything in between through your project manager with documented communication throughout.

What insurance coverage do you carry?

+

We carry full shiprepairer's liability insurance covering all vessels from haul-out to relaunch. This covers damage during lifting, storage and work in progress. We recommend owners maintain their own hull and machinery insurance during the refit period.

Are there import duties on yachts entering Thailand?

+

Foreign-flagged yachts can enter Thailand on a temporary import permit (6-month renewable) without paying duties. If permanently importing or registering under Thai flag, import duty and 7% VAT apply. For charter use, Thai flag registration is required. We advise consulting a maritime lawyer for specific situations.
